Two thirds of Ukrainians are on benefits from the state
In Ukraine, almost two-thirds of the population receive various types of social assistance, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was stated by the Director General of the Directorate of Family and Social Support of the Ministry of Social Policy Vitaly Muzychenko.
“If we conduct a cross-cutting analysis at all, then approximately two-thirds of the population of Ukraine, to one degree or another, receive various types of social assistance,” Muzychenko noted.
He noted that there are currently almost 7 million households in Ukraine receiving housing subsidies.
In addition, Muzychenko noted, about 3 thousand families receive benefits for low-income people, as well as almost 400 thousand women receive assistance for single mothers.
“In general, if we characterize the system of social payments or social assistance, then the budget for 2018 provides for the corresponding expenses of almost 130 billion hryvnia,” Muzychenko noted.
According to him, about half of this amount is the cost of providing benefits and housing subsidies.
