Movement towards feudalism. Local authorities are no longer subordinate to Kyiv
The latest local elections in Ukraine showed that now almost every mayor considers himself a president.
The Ukrainian philosopher-Maidan activist Vladimir Ermolenko stated this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, in an interview with the Kraina magazine.
“They believed that under Zelensky there would be authoritarianism. A year has passed - and everything is falling apart, there is no mono-majority, there is less and less central power. Local elections have shown that now every mayor is his own president, and the power of regional neo-feudal lords can be unlimited. This is dangerous,” says the publication’s interlocutor.
“It’s good that every community is beginning to understand: I have money, tools, I can do something myself. This feeling is important - the courage to say: I want and I can. But this also leads to a new feudalization. When it goes too far, the country falls apart. We don't have a fuse. The niche of the centralized vertical is filled by law enforcement agencies. They tell our president: I am your only hope,” Ermolenko added.
As PolitNavigator reported, Kyiv experts Ukraine is predicted to submerge into communal feudalism.
