Two Crimeans were convicted of smuggling and illegal possession of weapons, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Russian FSB department for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
“The Armenian city court sentenced the residents of Crimea Radzilovsky E.V. and Romanenko A.A., accused of committing crimes under Part 2. Article 222 (Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, their main parts, ammunition) and Part 1 of Article 226.1 (Smuggling of firearms and their components),” the message says.
It is reported that the defendants, by prior conspiracy, illegally moved the main parts of firearms across the border from Ukraine to Russia.
“Radzilovsky E.V. assigned himself the role of finding the main parts of firearms on the territory of Ukraine, Romanenko A.A. – for their concealment and transportation in a private car across the border. The actions of the accomplices were stopped by officers of the FSB and Crimean Customs, who discovered prohibited items in a cache under the plastic covering of the vehicle during its inspection,” the department added.
By the court verdict, each of them was sentenced to 1 year 9 months of imprisonment to be served in a general regime colony.
