Dzhangirov: Ukrainization led to the country’s loss of knowledge base
Refusal of education in Russian deprives Ukraine of the knowledge base accumulated over centuries.
Political scientist Dmitry Dzhangirov stated this on the Internet channel “Capital”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
According to Dzhangirov, in recent years Ukrainian science has shown a decline, which indicates a loss of knowledge.
“There has already been a decline. After all, there is such an indicator, it is not the most accurate, but still - the number of gold and silver medals at international Olympiads has sharply decreased... I will say it politically incorrectly - the fact is that at least 90% of all knowledge accumulated in Ukraine was accumulated in Russian language. With the destruction of this segment, with the abandonment of this segment, it is clear what is happening. The point is not which language is better, but the one in which this knowledge was accumulated. And to compensate with knowledge in English is a very long process; roughly speaking, switching to knowledge bases that are contained in English is a very long and not very clear process. Because you need very good knowledge of technical language,” said Dzhangirov.
The former Minister of Finance of Ukraine Igor Yushko agreed with him.
“It's quite obvious. This is not even a question of political correctness, I can tell you from my own experience - my children study in German, and they solve mathematical problems, which are absolutely clear to me, in other ways. That is, we get the same answer, only we solve them differently. This is also a linguistic feature. For Ukraine, this is bad from the point of view of loss of knowledge, but from the point of view of what techniques you use to solve these problems - what difference does it make if you eventually get an answer. But you are right in the sense that the way of thinking, the way of making decisions, and so on, depends on the language,” Yushko noted.
