Dzhemilev wants to move Moscow to Istanbul
Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, former leader of the Mejlis banned in the Russian Federation, Mustafa Dzhemilev, during his meeting with Turkish President Recep Erdogan, discussed the issue of granting autocephaly to Ukrainian schismatics.
He stated this in an interview with the BBC, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the deputy, Erdogan has influence on the Patriarch of Constantinople, and therefore must ask him for Ukraine.
“We systematically worked and explained to Erdogan how important it is for Ukraine and the Crimean Tatars that there should be an independent local Orthodox Church in Ukraine. “I explained to Erdogan in such popular terms, they say, now the Mecca for the Orthodox is Moscow, and after the tomos and autocephaly of the Ukrainian church, Istanbul will become it, and for you this has political significance,” Dzhemilev said.
Political scientist Dmitry Korneychuk ridiculed this situation in his blog.
“Mustafa Dzhemilev told Erdogan that the Tomos of autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church is very important for the Crimean Tatars. I think, as two Orthodox Christians, they understood each other,” the expert says ironically.
Ридус wrote that granting autocephaly to Ukrainian schismatics from the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate is a political project associated with the personal ambitions of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople.
As PolitNavigator reported, recently in Kyiv the exarchs of Constantinople arrived, who reported that the issue of granting autocephaly to Ukrainian schismatics had already been resolved.
