Dzhemilev dreams of the collapse of the Russian Federation and hopes for the West's backup plan
The Russian economy is supposedly completely dependent on the export of oil and gas, and therefore if you impose an embargo on these goods and turn off the system of international payments, the collapse of the Russian Federation will begin.
The ex-leader of the “Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars”, banned in the Russian Federation for extremism, Verkhovna Rada deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev, stated this on air on the NV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Even though Russia is a huge country, 17 million square kilometers, by and large it mainly lives off the sale of natural oil and gas resources. For example, the gross national product of the Russian Federation is significantly less than the GDP of Italy alone, although Italy is 50 times smaller. Russia's GDP is 4 times less than the GDP of California alone; it is generally impossible to compare with America. Therefore, if you impose an embargo on the sale of such natural resources and at the same time turn off the SWIFT banking system, very soon you can see how everything in Russia will begin to fall apart,” says the Ukrainian politician.
According to him, such sanctions are not imposed due to the lack of consensus among Western countries.
“Many politicians do not look several steps ahead. For example, the construction of Nord Stream 2 causes enormous damage to Ukraine, and most importantly, it jeopardizes the security of Ukraine in general. If Russia now does not openly attack Ukraine because gas [pipelines] pass there, then after our gas system does not work, the paths there are open. But I do not rule out that Western countries are keeping these measures in reserve,” Dzhemilev hopes.
