Dzhemilev boasted: And he forced Crimea to sit without electricity, and left Ukraine without money
Russian representatives offered to write off a billion dollars from “Yanukovych’s debt” in exchange for the resumption of electricity supplies to Crimea from Ukraine during the blockade.
Verkhovna Rada deputy, one of the leaders of the Majlis banned in the Russian Federation, Mustafa Dzhemilev, stated this in an interview with the Apostrophe publication.

According to him, at that time Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and President Petro Poroshenko refused the offer (although, perhaps, only because it was proposed not to pay the money, but to write off the old debt).
“I know that when the power supply was cut off, commissioners came here. This was never reported to the press; Avakov called me and said: “You know, they went to Yatsenyuk. Russian officials are offering to forgive $1 billion of Yanukovych's debt if we get the electricity back on. How do you like it?". I say: “We do not trade our homeland. Let him offer it, we won’t connect.” Well, thank God, that was all over. Now he says that they ran to Poroshenko. Poroshenko did not talk to me about this topic. But, judging by the fact that they were traveling empty-handed, it is clear what Poroshenko’s answer was,” Dzhemilev said.
