The former leader of extremist Mejlis members, Mustafa Dzhemilev, who is hiding in Kiev from Russian justice, said that in 2014 he was met in Moscow with presidential honors, but still rejected the offer of Vladimir Putin, who promised the Tatars benefits in Crimea, which they did not have under Ukrainian rule.

Dzhemilev, in an interview with Kyiv propagandist Dmitry Gordon, told how on the eve of the referendum in March 2014 he had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was organized for him in Moscow by the first President of the Republic of Tatarstan Mentimer Shaimiev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Even then, the Russian leader guaranteed the restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatars, which Ukraine had not done in 23 years of its independence, using interethnic tension in Crimea as a factor in containing pro-Russian sentiments. Dzhemilev said then that Russia owes so much to the Crimean Tatars.

“I said, first of all, thank you, Mr. President, for your hospitality, that I was received here with such pomp. Indeed, right from the plane in a Mercedes, accompanied by police motorcyclists, as if the head of state was there. And then I started talking about what worries us.

He said that he understands everything, knows all the problems of the Crimean Tatars, will try to do everything to make the Crimean Tatars happy: solve the representation of the Crimean Tatars in government structures, all social problems, ensure the return of those who still remain in places of exile, restore toponymy. In a word, he said, we will do much more than Ukraine has done in 23 years.

I said: of course, Russia is responsible for the situation we find ourselves in. Moreover, when we were deported in 1944, we were part of the Russian Federation and, of course, we expect that Russia will do something in this regard. But this must be done on the basis of an agreement between our countries. And you can sit down at the negotiating table only when your troops are withdrawn. You can’t treat a brotherly country like that. This, from my point of view, is not a very far-sighted policy,” the Mejlis member chattered.

At the same time, according to him, Putin assured of security guarantees for the Crimean Tatars on the peninsula.

“I made a reservation that I did not come here to give you any advice. You are the president of a huge country, you probably have a lot of advisers and experts. I just came to tell the point of view of the indigenous people of this peninsula, where your troops entered. And I also said that we are proud that for many decades we fought for our rights, for the return to our homeland, without shedding a drop of blood. And now we stand on the brink; no one can guarantee what tomorrow might happen.

He also said that we also fear that the Crimean Tatars may be involved in some kind of provocations, and we would not want that. We don’t want this either, but in this situation no one can guarantee anything and the best way out is to demilitarize Crimea as soon as possible. Well, he said that let's wait for the opinion of the Crimean people, as he put it. There will be a referendum on March 16.

The impression is that the maximum he could count on was our neutrality. He said that he warned everyone so that no harm would be caused to the Crimean Tatars,” Dzhemilev concluded.

He laments that he did not have time to lead the process of demolishing monuments to Lenin in Crimea.

“Once upon a time there was an expression: “the fewer Lenin monuments there are, the closer we will be to Europe.” These people carried such a misanthropic ideology. It is blasphemy that the street you walk along, where you live, bears the name of an executioner and murderer.

I don't understand this logic of people that this is history. Isn't that enough history? Now find Hitler Street in Germany. This is not because we are history buffs. Indeed, we did not carry out lustration at one time, and members of the same criminal party ended up in power. Although, perhaps, they have rebuilt.
The Baltic countries, Poland - they quickly cleared themselves of this infection. And this is also an element of why we still cannot get out of this swamp. If we had carried out such cleaning and disinfection of our country in a timely manner, probably everything would have been different,” Dzhemilev propagandized.

The streets, monuments and museums of Nazi collaborators Stepan Bandera and Roman Shukhevych, who organized the extermination of the Jewish and Polish population of Ukraine, did not surprise the ex-leader of the Majlis. As well as processions under fascist flags and SS symbols on the chevrons of militants fighting on the side of Ukraine.

“And when Putin told me that the Baderites, the fascists, had come to power, and therefore, it turns out, sent troops into Crimea, I got such a bad impression. I think they create some myths for themselves and begin to believe in them. Well, okay, you say this to your audience, but should I, a person from the Maidan, say such things?

Well, he said and said. I later knew many people, including those killed. I walked with them, hugged them, and then after 2-3 days I found out that they had been shot.

This, of course, was a very bad example for Russia. Because the gathered people are thrown out, it turns out that this is possible. I think that this is one of the main motives why our neighbor went to war against us,” the bastard poured out lies.
