Herbst: There are people in the Biden administration who want to force Ukraine to comply with the Minsk agreements
The United States can put pressure on Ukraine to force it to implement the Minsk agreements as Russia demands.
Former US Ambassador to Ukraine John Herbst stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, there are officials in the US leadership who want to resume normal relations with Russia and are ready to accept its conditions.
“There is, it seems to me, a group in the administration that wants good relations with Moscow, which may be ready to put pressure on Ukraine in order to implement the Minsk agreements as outlined by Russia. I'm not saying that it will happen, but I think there are people who are thinking about it. But there are others in the administration who understand that this cannot be done,” the former ambassador said.
“According to the Russian presentation, the Minsk Agreements contradict Ukrainian sovereignty. According to their presentation, the “Minsk Agreements” give influence on Ukrainian foreign policy to the occupied territories of Ukraine – the LPR and the DPR,” Herbst said.
