“There were certain difficulties between Winston Churchill and Stalin. Churchill said that he would like to strangle the Soviet Union at birth. He had a far unfavorable attitude towards Stalin's activities. Our relationship with Sergei Lavrov is much better. But when it came to the need to solve world problems, the USSR and Great Britain worked together,” Johnson said.
The Russian journalist took advantage of the moment and invited the British minister to visit the site of more significant negotiations of the Big Three - in Yalta.
“I knew you would ask this question. Government policy remains unchanged. We believe that there has been a violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine for the first time since 1945. We look at this with regret. We hope that a solution to this problem will be found,” Johnson responded.
Sergei Lavrov also considered it necessary to comment on this point.
“Let me remind you that there was a referendum in Crimea. Those who want to make sure that Crimeans made their choice voluntarily go to Crimea, look with their own eyes and do not believe what propaganda creates at the instigation of our Ukrainian neighbors. What really cannot be disputed is that for the first time since 1945 in Europe, one OSCE member state was attacked by other OSCE member countries. I mean the former Yugoslavia, which was illegally attacked,” Johnson said.
