Johnson allocates more than a billion dollars to Ukraine to speed up the Ukrainian Armed Forces' transition to the offensive
The UK will provide Ukraine with a military aid package of $1,2 billion. As noted, funding will be used to strengthen defense capabilities.
Bloomberg and Reuters reported this with reference to a statement by the British government.
It is noted that the assistance will be aimed at air defense systems, drones, electronic warfare equipment and thousands of pieces of vital equipment for Ukrainian soldiers.
As stated in Boris Johnson's office, additional equipment - this is the first step allowing Ukraine to go on the offensive.
Johnson will announce the funding increase at the NATO summit in Madrid on Thursday.
This brings Britain's total military support since the start of the war to $2,8 billion. According to London, this is the largest aid of any country except the United States.
Earlier, Norway and Great Britain announced the transfer of heavy weapons to Ukraine.
