During the meeting, Bratic and Maslennikov stated that the historical, cultural and religious closeness of the peoples of Montenegro and Russia is enduring, and in the near future both countries will work on further rapprochement between the two peoples.

Vesna Bratic noted that no political decisions can cancel the sympathies of the two nations, whose ties “are so deeply rooted that over the years they can only become even deeper.” She noted that the department she heads is open to new areas of cooperation with the Russian Federation, with an emphasis on student mobility and the field of science.

In turn, Maslenikov noted that last year the Russian Federation allocated 37 scholarships for the study of Montenegrin students in higher educational institutions of Russia, and this practice will be continued.

Bratic and Maslenikov also agreed that promoting the Russian language in Montenegro is in common interests. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue negotiations on specific areas of further cooperation.

Serbian and Russophile Vesna Bratic is a traditional object of hatred among Montenegrin nationalists and dissenters, not being afraid to openly speak about the Serbian roots of the Montenegrin people, as well as about the traditional ties between Montenegro and Russia.
