The incident occurred the day before in the village of Donja Brnica in southern Kosovo, which belongs to the municipality of the capital Pristina. Both Albanians and Serbs live in the settlement, the latter, according to 2011 data, there were 245 people out of 549, that is, 44,6% of the population.

As a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, a group of Serbian high school students, who often spent evenings in the courtyard of a local school, was attacked by two Albanians. At first, they fired a shot to the side and told the children to get out, and after they ran, they shot after them. The local “police,” as happens in such cases, did not identify the attackers.

“My daughter Katarina was among the children,” said the father of one of the schoolgirls, Sinisa Vitkovic. - I was at home. At 19:45 the daughter called on the phone and said: “Dad, we were attacked, they are shooting at us.” I ran to the schoolyard with the father of another girl. The children were crying, they were scared.”

“Our children have already been attacked several times,” said the father of another teenager, Zlatko Miladinovic. – A similar incident occurred three days ago, fortunately, there were no shots fired then... We ask KFOR, UNMIK (international occupation structures in Kosovo - ed.) and our representatives to sit down at the table and talk, we have nowhere to go.”

The director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Marko Djuric, noted that the attack was recorded on a surveillance video camera, therefore “there is no excuse for the slowness of the police.”

“We still have not received condemnation of this attack on children from any representative of the international community, and this is not due to an unclear situation. The footage shows how a terrorist in black approaches the school yard, points a gun at the children, chases them, shoots...

The safety of children, whatever their nationality, must be a matter of general consensus and a minimum of coherence, because how can we work towards reconciliation and create a stable and secure environment in Kosovo and Metohija while there are people who feel that they can use weapons with impunity in relation to children?,” the Serbian statesman commented on the incident.
