The legend was asked to comment on the situation regarding Artem Dzyuba’s refusal to play for the Russian national football team, a temporary refusal for now. And Tikhonov made a legendary comment: he called Dziuba’s decision “betrayal.” He stated that the player’s titles should be stripped, his salary should be liquidated and he should be expelled from the Zenit club. Too?
On the one hand, yes. Well, it happens that players don’t feel strong enough to play in the national team. So Dziuba formulated that “he has not yet reached optimal condition.” But there is another side.
The trick is that Artem is not on the best terms, to put it mildly, with the newly appointed head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin. And this conflict is long-standing.
The trouble is that, while playing in Spartak, having quarreled with Karpin and in general with everyone in the Moscow team, even distinguishing himself, as they wrote, by stealing, Dzyuba moved to the camp of the worst enemy of the “red-whites” - the St. Petersburg “Zenith”. But even this was not enough for Artyom: he began to constantly troll the fans of his former club, and then began to regularly appear in scandals. Such a bad guy of Russian football.
Sometimes it turned out tragicomically. For example, the Spaniard Unai Emery, then coaching Spartak, was called “coach” by Dzyuba. The irony is that Unai collected a dozen trophies after that, but Artem never moved beyond the familiar swamp.
However, the story of Dziuba’s confrontation (that’s right) is not just a personal story, no, when two or three quarreled. No, everything is more complicated and even more interesting. Thus, this conflict once again emphasized that football players in Russia have become a privileged caste. And while players all over the world earn contracts and money through quality play, our “goleadors” get their fat rations solely because of their passports and agent games.
After all, there is an inadequate limit in the Russian Premier League, and the agents build their corruption schemes so cleverly that any more or less talented footballer falls into their traps - after which, in fact, he ceases to be talented.
And it’s no secret that the Russian national team has long been played not by the best, but by those who have patronage. Moreover, they are all boiled in the same poisonous juice. In this case, a call to the national team is a foregone conclusion and is not a significant event. Moreover, many go there reluctantly, and in the clubs they are told: “Don’t overdo it, take care of yourself...”
In this context, and there is no other, Dzyuba’s refusal to fight for the national team is not so much a betrayal as a statement of obvious sad truths. One of them is that for the majority of Russian football players there is no flag and no Motherland, there are purely personal ambitions and nepotism. Well, no matter who, Dziuba knows a lot about this.
