“Last May, a single day of preliminary voting was held for the first time. Party and non-party candidates of United Russia had to go through this procedure and participate in debates. But in fact, voters themselves formed the election list of our party. No other party trusted people with this process,” Medvedev said.
According to him, 10 million people came to sites across Russia.
“It was a unique experience for each of us. No one has ever conducted such a large-scale preliminary vote anywhere,” Medvedev said.
He believes that this was one of the reasons that the party was able to form a constitutional majority in the State Duma last year.
