This was reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“According to the draft law, liability for individuals for refusing to remove illegal content and its copies will be from three to five million rubles, for legal entities - from 30 to 50 million,” reports Parlamentskaya Gazeta.
At the same time, the words of the co-author of the bill, Sergei Boyarsky, are quoted, who clarifies that we are talking about social network operators, and not about users.
“In essence, the users themselves will monitor the purity of relationships within the social network. And large social networks that today operate on the territory of the Russian Federation, in accordance with our proposals, will have to create within their structure a XNUMX-hour administrative body, in other words, a social network operator, so that anyone can complain there about illegal or defamatory information , which will have to be blocked within XNUMX hours,” Boyarsky said.
The United Russia faction in the State Duma supported the bill.
“We found it extremely interesting. Yes, very high and really tangible fines are established for the distribution of illegal content. But we see with you that small fines today do not stop people from spreading slander, inciting social, national and religious hatred,” said first deputy head of the party faction Andrei Isaev.
“Thus, now responsibility, for example, for inciting national hatred will be borne not only by the administrators of specific groups or communities, but also by social network operators, who often turn a blind eye to such content and pretend that nothing happened. There are enough examples (posts and entire communities calling for killing people based on their ethnicity, burning people for political views, etc.),” State Duma Deputy Speaker Pyotr Tolstoy wrote in his telegram channel.
