Having received a constitutional majority in the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the United Russia party lost the opportunity to shift responsibility for decisions made to anyone. Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko stated this at the Business Breakfast in Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“The party in power, which received a constitutional majority in the Duma, is a colossal responsibility. Now you can’t blame anyone, you can’t blame someone for interfering and preventing laws from being passed. Now you will need to answer in full. “United Russia understands this,” Matvienko said.
She believes that the past elections proved that Russia was able to build a civilized electoral system in a short period of time.
“Elections in any democratic state are the most objective sociological survey that shows people’s attitudes towards political forces. From this point of view, the authorities must now analyze the results of the past elections,” Matvienko said.
