United Russia welcomed the news with applause that the sanctions would not be lifted
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev called on members of United Russia not to hope for “other people's elections” and the lifting of sanctions. He announced this today, speaking at the party congress.

“It’s time to give up the illusion that any sanctions against our country will be lifted. It is obvious that everything that happened will last for a long time. There is no point in hoping for someone else’s elections and the arrival of new foreign leaders,” Medvedev said.
The audience responded to this with applause. “That’s right,” Medvedev said.
He said that this year the government has allocated the same amount of funds to support the agricultural sector as in the past.
“Our farmers, for whom such a fortunate situation has developed, must actively use it. And we will support them in this. In any conditions, we will feed ourselves,” Medvedev said.
