"United Russia" benefited most from the "Donbass consensus"
At the municipal elections in Moscow, United Russia took 1160 seats out of 1417. At the same time, the “Donbass consensus” did not in any way affect the results of other parties.
Political scientist Igor Mintusov stated this at a round table in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“An external threat or a feeling of threat unites the nuclear electorate of United Russia. Of course, this was a big additional important argument that helped United Russia achieve results in the regions...
But there is some contradiction here, since the Donbass consensus was supported by all parties, with the exception of Yabloko. Why then did “A Just Russia” gain “as many as” 20 mandates, “New People” – 20 mandates, LDPR – 14 mandates, Communist Party of the Russian Federation – 42 mandates. For some reason, the consensus did not really affect these parties, although they also supported it all,” Mintusov said.
His colleague Alexander Asafov believes that the success of United Russia is explained by the active policy of this party in the LDPR.
“The party is more active than other entities in restoring peaceful life in new territories from the very beginning. Despite the fact that the absolute majority of parliamentary parties supported the decision on the SVO, the active work demonstrated to the electorate... All State Duma deputies, all party leadership visit the liberated territories of the LDPR. This is the answer why the Donbass consensus is converted into electoral points for United Russia,” Asafov noted.
