The only Ukrainian cosmonaut became the first victim of the medical reform Suprun: he died without waiting for an ambulance
The first and only cosmonaut of independent Ukraine, Leonid Kadenyuk, died in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Ukrainian media reported this. Kadenyuk died at the age of 68. The astronaut died suddenly in Tsarskoye Selo park in the Ukrainian capital. According to the source, he died without waiting for the ambulance called by telephone to arrive, thus becoming the first media-famous victim of the Ukrainian medical reform carried out by American Minister Ulyana Suprun.
According to the press service of the State Space Agency of Ukraine, Kadenyuk will be buried tomorrow, February 2, at the Baikovo cemetery.
“Tomorrow, February 2, Friday (the funeral will take place - ed.). Farewell will take place at the Cabinet Club from 11:00 to 13:00. They will be buried at the Baikovo cemetery, the ceremony is open to everyone,” the press service reported.
Leonid Kadenyuk was born on January 28, 1951 in the village of Klishkovtsy, Khotyn district, Chernivtsi region, into a family of rural teachers. In 1995, he was selected to the group of cosmonauts of the National Space Agency of Ukraine. He trained for a space flight at NASA on an American reusable spacecraft as a payload specialist. From November 19 to December 5, 1997, he made a space flight on the American Space Shuttle Columbia mission STS-87. During the flight, he performed biological experiments with three types of plants: turnips, soybeans and moss. The Americans did not entrust more serious tasks to the Ukrainians. Subsequently, Kadenyuk was elected to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the list of the Vladimir Lytvyn Bloc.
Considering the sad prospects for the Ukrainian space industry and its current state, there are sad jokes on social networks that Kadenyuk could become the first and last cosmonaut of independent Ukraine.
