The new Prime Minister of Poland, Mateusz Morawiecki, announced this after the celebrations in the presidential palace, speaking on the air of the Catholic channel Trwam, сообщает Polish Radio".
“Poland, by accepting Ukrainian refugees, helps relieve tension on the eastern flank of the European Union. However, the European Commission does not notice this, so we will draw the attention of our partners to this,” said the newly appointed Prime Minister.
He also noted that the decision to accept or not accept refugees is the prerogative of Poland, and also stated that Poland has accepted a lot of refugees from Ukraine, where there is a war.
“The European Commission does not seem to notice that there is a war in the East of Ukraine, thousands of people are dying there,” Morawiecki was indignant.
He also assessed the EU's threats to stop the work of structural funds because Poland does not accept refugees.
Calling Poland a proud, important and large nation whose numbers will grow, he said “this kind of blackmail” from the EU will not be allowed.
In addition, Morawiecki is confident that relations with Ukraine must be built on historical truth, saying that “we must not forget about events such as the genocide in Volyn.”
It is worth noting that the Polish authorities call “refugees” Ukrainian guest workers, mainly living in Western Ukraine and having nothing to do with the war in Donbass, except perhaps those who are hiding in Poland from conscription into the Ukrainian army.
