Efremov left the pre-trial detention center without his belongings and immediately left with a lawyer
The former head of the Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada, Alexander Efremov, left the pre-trial detention center in Starobelsk in the Luhansk region on Wednesday, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
TSN reports this.
“Alexander Efremov left the pre-trial detention center at about 8 am. He did not carry any things in his hands. He was met by lawyer Evgeniy Solodko in an SUV,” the report says.
The politician was accompanied in the car by two law enforcement officials.
As PolitNavigator reported, on July 22, the Kiev Court of Appeal, at the request of the defense, changed the preventive measure against Efremov from detention to round-the-clock house arrest.
Efremov was detained on suspicion of encroaching on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine on July 30, 2016 at the Kyiv airport.
He is accused of organizing the seizure of the building of the Lugansk regional state administration in the spring of 2014, of complicity in the seizure of the building of the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lugansk region, of committing deliberate actions with the aim of changing the boundaries of the territory and the state border of Ukraine.
He is also charged with organizational and other assistance in the creation and activities of the LPR and “high treason.”
