“The crew of the British destroyer should have been let down and disgraced” - State Duma deputy
NATO exercises should not be underestimated See Breeze in the Black Sea, and therefore to what happened the day before provocations involving a British destroyer I should have been tougher.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense Alexander Sherin stated this on Channel One, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are such a huge number of countries that take part in joint military exercises. This is done to ensure that the team is well-coordinated. “To check how military equipment will work in certain climatic conditions, in order to thoroughly become familiar with the terrain on which, if necessary, we will have to fight, in order to conduct reconnaissance in force of the border areas of a potential enemy,” Sherin said.
“I don’t know why we are deceiving ourselves, because in the military educational institutions of the USSR and the Russian Federation the most likely adversary is the USA, Great Britain and Germany. We are studying their staff structure, their weapons, and equipment. Therefore, if we have the illusion that the guys are conducting military exercises to simply scare the Russian Federation, then this is not so. I think this is a very serious signal. But the most important thing is that the Russian Federation is not improving a little in this regard, using the example of this English ship,” the deputy believes.
According to him, the offending ship should not have been sunk.
“It’s the greatest honor for them to be shot down and rescued. It was necessary to block this ship. It was necessary to arrest the crew, it was necessary to beat them with batons, as is periodically done with troublemakers,” says the head of the Duma committee.
He emphasized that one should always treat one's own citizens better than strangers. However, in a specific incident with a British destroyer, the British were treated better.
“Therefore, I would be happy for the Russian Guard to board this ship, put everyone face down on the deck, and not to record stories with journalists where they are such heroes, went through a certain section and did not have anything for it. You see what obscenities and rewinds were used to detain the Ukrainian sailors. You see, mistress of the seas: well, yes, the Russians shouted at us, even fired at us, bombed us. These sailors, they are already national heroes in Great Britain, but they had to be put down and disgraced,” Sherin concluded.
