Economic success has flowed from Moscow and Yamal to the regions
The economic geography of Russia has changed significantly since the start of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization: previously depressed regions are now actively developing.
Alexander Auzan, dean of the Faculty of Economics at Moscow State University, stated this in an interview with RTVI, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Where did government spending go? This is largely the defense-industrial complex, payment for contracts of military personnel, compensation for injuries and death. And mostly this amounted to the income of industrial regions, some of which are depressed regions. They have not seen money, serious government assistance, or government investment for decades. And now there are well-paying jobs there. These are the regions where the defense industry of the Russian Federation exists,” Auzan said.
According to him, it seems that social justice has been restored.
“Megacities are sagging a little, the former centers of prosperity are feeling unwell (this also applies to gas and oil centers), and those who stood for decades and looked at the success of others are thriving. It’s scary to say, but 5 million for death is an apartment. Mortgages went, loans went,” Auzan said.
