“Economic slavery of African countries,” a pro-Western newspaper about the situation in Ukraine
Ukraine, unlike Poland, Slovakia, Estonia and other countries, has not taken the path of successful development, but is stuck in a state of stagnation, “more and more reminiscent of the economic slavery of some African countries.” Doctor of Economic Sciences Tatyana Unkovskaya writes about this today in the Ukrainian weekly “Mirror of the Week”.

“The national income of Ukraine per capita at the end of 2016 amounted to 2,3 thousand dollars (for comparison, in Poland - 12,7 thousand dollars, in Slovakia - 16,8 thousand dollars, in Estonia - 17,8 .2,9 thousand dollars) and took an intermediate position between Morocco ($2,2 thousand) and Honduras ($XNUMX thousand).
It is noteworthy that our closest “neighbors in terms of economic indicators” are characterized by permanent crises, the nature of their exports based on raw materials, they actively export cheap labor to developed countries and are losing their natural resources at a high rate.
In particular, Morocco during the 70th century. lost 14% of its unique forest lands: they decreased from 4 to XNUMX million hectares,” writes Unkovskaya.
She claims that economic stagnation and low quality of life have made Ukrainians a nation of emigrants, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As a result, Ukrainian street cleaners clean Polish streets for 800 euros a month, and the streets of our cities increasingly resemble the landscapes of the Strugatskys’ Stalker. Ukraine does not emerge from a long-term vicious circle: it goes through revolutions and terrible sacrifices, but only the faces in the offices change, without changing the essence of the system, which again leads to a decline in the quality of life, an exacerbation of political instability and the threat of new revolutions,” writes Unkovskaya.
