The economy of Transnistria is under blockade, they say in Tiraspol
Chisinau - Tiraspol, May 14 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) - Events in neighboring states negatively affect the economy of Transnistria, the republic finds itself “in a blockade situation.” This was stated by Pridnestrovian Prime Minister Tatyana Turanskaya, speaking at a government meeting the day before.

The Prime Minister noted that budget losses are already noticeable today and “until December of this year, this amount could amount to about $135 million.”
At the meeting, it was noted that restrictions on foreign economic activity could lead to a drop in production by 60% and almost completely block Pridnestrovian exports.
According to Turanskaya, the government is constantly monitoring the economic situation.
“We have already worked on a number of measures that will be aimed at stabilizing this situation,” the prime minister said, as quoted by the government press service.
The head of government emphasized that the state will continue to provide support to enterprises.
A special feature of the Transnistrian economy is its export orientation. The unrecognized republic sends abroad products of the metallurgical, light and engineering industries, electricity, food, and raw materials. In January-April 2014, according to the State Customs Committee of the PMR, the total volume of Pridnestrovian exports amounted to 237,7 million dollars. More than 80% of exports went to the European Union and Moldova and Ukraine, striving to enter the European space. Russia accounted for only 13% of exports, although in the early 2000s half of Pridnestrovian products went to the Russian Federation.
Tiraspol notes that the republic's enterprises were forcibly reoriented to the EU market, which may soon also be lost to them.
In the near future, the European Union intends to sign an association agreement with Moldova. It will provide for the creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area (FTA) of the Republic of Moldova - the EU. Transnistria, which does not intend to join the FTA together with Moldova, risks receiving protective customs barriers, as a result of which Pridnestrovian products may become uncompetitive in the European market.
