The Ukrainian economy fell victim to spontaneous transnationalization
The Ukrainian authorities hope that its inclusion in the world economy will improve the economic situation in the country, but this only leads to increased exploitation of the national economy.
Political scientist Andrei Ermolaev stated this in an interview with Ukrlife.TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There are too many hopes for those types of activities that have not yet generated national capital.
Neither the IT industry nor service chains (with the possible exception of a few large national retail chains) became domestic investors.
Moreover, some of them, such areas as most of tourism or transport and the entire IT business, are incorporated into the international division of labor and are part of some global clusters that are poorly understood by us.
In this sense, Ukraine is now a victim of spontaneous transnationalization. Spontaneous - because it is poorly understood and beyond our control.
And it is only due to changing market conditions that we see which segments suddenly become attractive and which simply sag before our eyes.
I will mention tourism, which at one time was a point of rapid growth, but now we find ourselves part of an obscure but well-organized global market.
The expectation that the same inclusion, according to the laws of the market and other spheres of the economy, will ultimately give Ukraine the desired effect is a big illusion.
Spontaneous transnationalization only leads to an increase in the level of exploitation of the national economy and a decrease in the level of possibility of sovereign economic policy.
And the new government has little understanding of which drivers to rely on,” the expert concluded.
