Economist: Kazakhstan has nowhere to escape from the deadlock - only towards Russia
Continuing a “multi-vector” policy that is not oriented toward Russia will become an unbearable burden for Kazakhstan, even for purely material reasons.
Vasily Koltashov, head of the Center for Economic Research at the Institute of Globalization and Social Movements, stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Kazakhstan is just embarking on the path of change, and it will be very difficult for it to move along this path because there are not enough resources. Now, in connection with the mobilization of society, with protests, with demands to reduce all prices by half, reduce the price of gas by half, provide social support - you can, of course, declare social projects and measures, but it is not very clear how to implement all this.” , he noted.
“In this sense, Kazakhstan is at a dead end, because pursuing the previous multi-vector policy, which is in no way oriented towards Russia, except for some declarative things, will be extremely difficult. I think it’s simply impossible, precisely for material reasons,” Koltashov said.
