The economist explained how Russia managed to record a record increase in computer production
During the Covid pandemic, many countries have experienced a shortage of computer equipment, which is now imported in parts and assembled locally.
The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this, said economist Denis Raksha, explaining why, according to statistical data, the production of computers in Russia increased by almost 60% last year.
“Now there is a relative localization of the production of computer equipment. Computers are imported in parts, and then assembled on site,” the expert told Komsomolskaya Pravda.
According to him, this trend concerns not only Russia.
“During the pandemic, there was an acute shortage of computers in the world due to the transition to remote work. Then China, a major manufacturer and supplier, limited the supply of its laptops to other countries, and after that many people thought about moving production home, including Europe. In addition, delivery prices have risen sharply recently, and it has become more profitable to launch production in your own country rather than transport computers from Asia,” says the economist.
And the production of workwear grew the most – by 63% – in Russia.
“The production of workwear, canned food and medicines has grown against the backdrop of SVO,” Raksha explained.
