Economist predicts reconciliation between Kolomoisky and Poroshenko

This opinion was expressed in a commentary to PolitNavigator by Kiev economist Vsevolod Stepanyuk.
“The case in which Kolomoisky’s assets were seized is the case of the state of Ukraine against the former owners of PrivatBank, who are accused of withdrawing more than $2 billion from the nationalized bank. In addition, during the nationalization, the former owners gave certain obligations to repay the associated loans, etc. Since this did not happen, a trial was started. Most likely, this arrest was made to guarantee the implementation of a court decision, which may not be in Kolomoisky’s favor. All this indicates that the confrontation between Kolomoisky and the current government continues. There is no final court decision yet, but the arrest was made as part of the procedure for securing a future decision. The former owners of PrivatBank always have the opportunity to make peace, reach an agreement with the authorities, etc.,” Stepanyuk is sure.
