Economist: The Ukrainian authorities deceived, promising to compensate for the increase in tariffs
The central government does not comply with the memorandum with the authorities of the regions of Ukraine on compensation for the increase in gas tariffs for utility needs, offers senseless infrastructure projects to the regions and siphons off resources.
Alexey Plotnikov, a leading researcher at the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I will remind you of this so-called memorandum with regional administrations, stating that the increase in gas tariffs and the increase in other tariffs will be covered from the state budget. It is not executed. So he was accepted, and it did not lead to anything, this is another indicator when the authorities deceived him. In this case, she deceived the regional authorities,” the economist emphasized.
“As for everything else, money is being pumped out of the regions, there is a complete withdrawal of those resources that could be used locally. The idea that an airfield will be built in each region, as was the case back in the presidential election campaign, or some two airports in Donbass... You see, these are all the construction projects of the century, these are all global things that can be solved without the construction of these airports. This is not something that will lead to an increase in the social standard of living even in those settlements near which airports are planned to be built, the expert believes.
“Again, even if we use the experience of Western European countries, airports there are now closed, because it is easier to connect cities either by high-speed rail or transport passengers to the airports of neighboring cities than to build a runway in each city, build appropriate take-off and landing equipment, and so on. ", said Plotnikov.
