Economist: Poroshenko is primarily to blame for the collapse of the hryvnia
Kyiv, November 23 (PolitNavigator, Vladimir Raichenko) – The blame for the fall of the hryvnia, observed recently, lies primarily with President Poroshenko, and not with the head of the NBU Gontareva.
This is the opinion of economist Alexander Zholud, quoted by the weekly Kraina.

“I don’t think that Gontareva should be fired because of the fall of the hryvnia,” believes Acorn. – It is not entirely correct to say that this is the fault of the head of the National Bank. The president is to blame for what we have now. At a meeting of the chairmen of the largest banks in September, he said that the exchange rate should be kept below 13 hryvnia per dollar - 12.95. This was the course during the parliamentary election campaign. At the same time, a black market developed. Now there are not enough reserves to keep the official exchange rate at the same level.”
The NBU’s fault, according to the economist, lies in its reluctance to resist the president’s demands and inability to make the foreign exchange market more resistant to the observed shocks.
