Economists mock Yatsenyuk's stupidity
Vladimir Raichenko) – After the Russian Federation announced that it plans to bypass Ukraine for gas supplied to Europe, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk’s proposals for Europeans to invest in the Ukrainian gas transportation system make no sense.
This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by Viktor Suslov, ex-Minister of Economy, Honored Economist of Ukraine, who emphasized that he is critical of the statements of representatives of the Ukrainian government about not allowing Russian investors to participate in the new privatization.

“You see, the question is: do we need investment or not? - the economist draws attention. – In many cases, foreign investors may be interested in Ukrainian enterprises because they have stable sales markets in Russia or consistently receive supplies and raw materials from Russia. An attempt to pursue a policy of restricting the origin of investments will lead to a significant reduction in the cost of these enterprises.
You watched how the Prime Minister, at a summit with EU leaders, invited them to invest again in the Ukrainian gas transportation system. I appreciate the Prime Minister's sharp humor. After it was announced that Russia intends to transport all gas through Turkey in a few years, it is difficult to invite foreign investors to the GTS without resolving this issue.”
The situation, the analyst notes, is similar with the Odessa port plant.
“If there are no guarantees of ammonia supplies from Russia, as has been the case until now, then this facility is unlikely to be attractive for investment,” concluded Viktor Suslov. “I think we need to approach the issues of privatization and re-privatization more competently, balancedly and with less politicization.”
