Economists fear that a Maidan activist will be put in charge of the National Bank of Ukraine
It is still difficult to say how the policy of the National Bank of Ukraine will change if the expected resignation of the current head of the NBU, Valeria Gontareva, occurs.

Doctor of Economic Sciences Alexey Plotnikov said this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It is still unknown when the current head of the NBU, Valeria Gontareva, will resign and who will replace her. For one reason or another, the process may drag on for a long time, until the fall. And again: what criteria will be adopted when choosing a new head of the National Bank. Will it be a person who understands the banking system, has the appropriate experience and authority, or will it be, relatively speaking, some activist devoted to the authorities and sent as an incentive to steer the country’s National Bank. I don’t exclude this in principle, although I really hope that in this case the social elevator will not work with the post of head of the National Bank,” said Plotnikov.
Let us recall that immediately after the overthrow of Yanukovych, one of the commandants of the Maidan, Stepan Kubiv, was put in charge of the National Bank, and one of Andrei Parubiy’s deputies for Maidan self-defense, Andrei Levus, received the post of deputy chairman of the SBU.
