Thus, employees of the DPR Ministry of State Security detained a former soldier of the People’s Militia, who in August 2018 defected to the Ukrainian side under the “Come Home” program, where he was recruited by the SBU.

“On February 7, 2017, I joined the ranks of the DPR Armed Forces, served there for about a year, after which I resigned from service and about four months later left the territory of the DPR and arrived on the territory of Ukraine,” says accused Ruslan Makarets in the operational footage.

According to the department, this person provided the Ukrainian special services with personal data of military personnel, information about the deployment of a sapper-engineering company, the number and name of military equipment, as well as the coordinates of the headquarters of the military unit where he previously served.

“In March 2019, Ruslan Makarets, on instructions from the SBU, returned to the territory of the DPR. Here he was detained by the state security authorities of the republic. The former DPR soldier was found guilty under the article “High Treason” and sentenced to 13 years in prison to be served in a maximum security penal colony,” the story clarified.

According to the MGB, Makarets Ruslan, born in 1984, lived in front-line Gorlovka.
