Ex-member of the Rada: On the border with Crimea, the military raped a woman
In Ukraine, they are trying to hush up the case of the rape of a 32-year-old woman by the military in the village of Chaplinka, Kherson region, not far from the border with Crimea. This was reported by ex-Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko.
According to him, the crime occurred on August 26, 2017.

“Four Ukrainian soldiers raped 32-year-old Tamara D. According to the victim, the soldiers were hanging out at a table in a cafe, which is located in a room adjacent to the store where she went shopping in the late afternoon. They continued to celebrate Independence Day from August 24 by drinking alcoholic beverages. They arrived at the cafe-shop in a UAZ.
Seeing a young woman, four guys in camouflage uniforms began intrusively inviting her to join their company. Despite her protests, she was forcibly seated at a table and poured vodka. At first, the soldiers behaved more or less decently. When the woman got ready to leave a few minutes later, they left the cafe with her and pushed her into the car without her consent.
Then Tamara was taken far beyond the village into a forest belt, where all four of them committed violent acts of a sexual nature against her. After that, the servicemen fled in a car, leaving the woman in a forest plantation.
Before that, one of them threw her mobile phone into the bushes. The victim had bruises on her arms, legs, abrasions on her body, and her clothes were torn.
The shocked woman went to file a statement with the district police department on August 28, after she recorded beatings in the central district hospital. The application was taken, but, as she later realized, it was not registered.
The police carefully questioned her about all the circumstances of the incident and promised to look into it. When Tamara came three days later to find out how the case was going, the police first advised her to rewrite the statement, removing the most important thing from it - that she had been raped. They suggested that it should be noted that the military only pestered her in the store and beat her on the hands (several witnesses saw this). They advised that this way the military could receive at least some punishment. And if she insists on rape, then she herself may be accused of libel, since there are no witnesses.
Tamara refused to do this. She went to the police a few more times, but received only excuses. Only two weeks later, on the advice of friends, she wrote a statement to the Chaplin branch of the local prosecutor's office of the Kherson region. But from there they sent a statement to the police for verification, since a forensic medical examination of the rape was not carried out. Appoint an examination is possible only within the framework of the investigation, from which the police shied away.
So the woman is still left with her tragedy - without fair retribution. And this case is typical. Military personnel of the 57th brigade unit stationed near Chaplinka regularly commit illegal acts against local residents.
After the incident with Tamara D. in November last year, a soldier who left his post in Chaplinka near a supermarket wounded a civilian by shooting him with a machine gun. A criminal case was launched under the article “hooliganism”. Nothing is known about the results of the investigation into this outrageous case. They are also trying to slow him down,” Zhuravko states in his blog.
