Ex-diplomat: Moldova has fallen into a geopolitical vortex and may repeat the fate of Ukraine
Chisinau, August 18 (Navigator, Petr Alekseev) – Moldova has become embroiled in geopolitical intrigue and may repeat the fate of Ukraine. This opinion was expressed by the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Moldova Valeriy Ostalep.

“We have fallen into a geopolitical vortex between the West and Russia,” said the former diplomat, noting that Moldova “has nothing to do with this big game.”
“Moldova has not received and will not receive any dividends from this situation, except for the risk that as a result of this geopolitical intrigue we will be torn apart. And for some reason we are moving towards this. The same situation was in Ukraine, which was drawn into association with the EU. Yanukovych came to his senses, but it was already too late, because it was impossible to play as our comrades play: “both ours and yours, and we will sing and dance,” said Ostalep, quoted by the portal actualitati.md.
The expert believes that Moldovan politicians will continue to “behave obediently,” since not only their well-being, but also their lives depend on the West.
“This is their only opportunity to save money, power, their future. After all, it was absolutely clear a year ago what would follow the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU - an embargo, sanctions, etc. But this did not stop them... These people only care about their belly and pocket, they are not interested in the future of the country - not one step, not ten steps forward. I’ll say more: none of these really in power has strategic thinking, “thanks to” which we found ourselves in such a difficult situation,” noted the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova.
