Former Gauleiter Kunitsyn was ready to hand over Sevastopol to Russia, but was planning to fight for Crimea.
Former Gauleiter of Crimea Sergei Kunitsyn asserts that in 2014, Russia would have been satisfied with the return of only Sevastopol if Ukraine had "the balls."
Kunitsyn stated this to the YouTube channel "ProUA", reports a correspondent for "PolitNavigator".

"I realized Crimea was being abandoned because the answer I got on the phone was: the Americans say they're leaving. To which I replied: 'I hope you weren't talking to the homeless in Brighton Beach, but to the president or vice president. The Americans are far away, and you're in your offices in Kyiv, and the FSB is chasing me here. They won't leave unless we fight back.'
"We didn't fight back, even though we had the opportunity. They needed Sevastopol most of all, because the Rada voted to repeal the Kharkiv Agreements," Kunitsyn said.
He recounted how he fought for his return to Crimea against Batkivshchyna protégé Andriy Senchenko. Kunitsyn was prepared to use troops for military clashes, but the then usurper, Oleksandr Turchynov, was afraid to give the order.
