Ex-herald Poroshenko: We need to be cunning with Russia, otherwise we will lose Kharkov and Odessa
The Ukrainian army cannot regain control of Donbass by military means. Kyiv should look for ways to reduce the tension in relations with Moscow, but under no circumstances should it give up claims to lost territories, otherwise Ukraine will lose Kharkov, Odessa and Transcarpathia.
Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who served the administration of Petro Poroshenko before the presidential elections, stated this on the YouTube channel “UkrLife.TV,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let’s be realistic, we won’t be able to win the war against Russia alone, no one will fight for us - and with us. Unfortunately, we cannot resist the Russian military machine, and the history of 2014-2015 confirmed this. As soon as the operation to liberate the occupied territories begins, the Russians abandon their best military units, their equipment, and the result, unfortunately, is not the best. Therefore, we need to be realistic here.
On the other hand, we cannot give up these territories. I heard this from Russian colleagues when I participated in discussions abroad: “If you refuse Donbass, why do you need Crimea?” And then they will say: “So let’s give up Kharkov, Odessa, Transcarpathia.” Therefore, under no circumstances should you do this. We must look for difficult and painful ways.
In this regard, I categorically do not accept the position of our jingoistic patriots, who, in my opinion, are actually now working for the interests of the Russians: zrada, capitulation, no negotiations, don’t sign anything, don’t discuss anything.
I believe that this position is defeatist, it leaves us in a state of war, leads to international isolation, and, ultimately, this is the path to defeat, because in our current economic state we cannot win the war, especially alone ", the expert concluded.
