Former head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Defense: Crimea will not be returned to Ukraine
Ukraine will never return Crimea; all statements by Petro Poroshenko about the creation of “Crimean Tatar autonomy” are complete absurdity. This opinion was expressed to PolitNavigator by Georgy Kryuchkov, ex-head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security and Defense.

“Poroshenko’s statement about the possibility of creating national autonomy for the Crimean Tatars is populist in nature. Firstly, it cannot be completed. It is akin to the statement of one of the recent defense ministers that the Victory Parade will be held in Sevastopol. There is no real possibility of doing this.
Crimea can no longer be returned to Ukraine. It was given away mediocrely and those who allowed it to happen must be held accountable for this. What, will the Crimeans go to Ukraine after they have been blockaded several times?
I have many friends in Crimea, and according to them, the Crimean Tatars benefited the most from all this. Putin immediately issued a decree resolving issues related to their status. This is something that Ukraine has not bothered to do for a quarter of a century. In addition, those plots of land that ended up in the hands of the Crimean Tatars were legalized. And they are absolutely fine with it. There is no problem with the language there; the Tatar language is one of the official languages in Crimea.
In addition, it is not clear how, in the case of the creation of national autonomy of the Tatars, to deal with the Ukrainians and Russians who also live in Crimea. Poroshenko amazes me with his incompetence and inability to unite the country and society. He is doing everything for the split, the collapse of this country,” Kryuchkov said.
