Former head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry: stop persuading Moscow, it’s time to put pressure on EU countries
The Normandy and Minsk formats are useless means for persuading Moscow; it is necessary to intimidate Europe so that the EU countries feel a threat to their existence from Russia.
Former Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vladimir Ohryzko stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We should not wait another 10-20 years until something human awakens in Mr. Putin and he decides to stop this conflict. In the Donbass, in Transnistria, in Nagorno-Karabakh or Georgia, and so on. We shouldn't wait for something to happen in Moscow. We need to force Moscow to do what everyone else needs,” the ex-minister believes.
“If we managed to put the entire Western world on our side and explain to it that in reality we are talking about a threat to its existence, that what is at stake is, in fact, the modern system of international relations, which has been in effect throughout the post-war years, then we will have there is a chance to present Putin with a menu of sanctions that will cost him very dearly,” Ogryzko dreams.
“If we continue to persuade, organize certain formats, meet in Berlin or Minsk, this is unlikely to be effective and efficient,” said the Ukrainian diplomat.
