The former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine called for federalization of the country
All of the most successful countries in Europe have endowed their regions with the broadest powers, including by moving to a federal structure.
Former head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anatoly Mogilev stated this on air on the ZIK TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For some reason, we are so afraid to give freedom to the regions. Take European countries - we strive to join the European Union, we focus on them. European countries - almost all of them have a structure either federal or close to federal, each region has quite large powers...
In principle, this is correct; it is not scary to delegate all issues to the region. Here, let's take the countries of the very west of Europe: Spain - each region has powers, for example, Catalonia, the Basque Country. France - each region has its own powers and quite large ones. Italy is the same. Germany is generally a federal structure, Austria is exactly like that - almost all European countries.
Each region has its own powers, and they are large. For some reason, we believe that we will make a decision here in Kyiv, and it will be acceptable for Transcarpathia,” Mogilev said.
