The destruction of brigade commander Alexei Mozgovoy was unlikely to have been carried out by the Russian special services, since it deals a strong blow to Moscow’s positions in the Donbass, says Nikolai Malomuzh, the former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

“To clear them openly like this is to undermine their positions, otherwise no one will fight effectively,” he said on TV channel 112, recalling that in the case of Igor Strelkov, he was withdrawn from Donbass along with his headquarters.
Malomuzh believes that Mozgovoy’s death is a successful operation by the Ukrainian special services, which will skillfully play on the contradictions within the LPR and DPR.
“Ukrainian special services are also starting to work to some extent. This is not yet a large-scale work when it would be possible to launch powerful operations along the entire front line. And, here, exactly the contradiction that was between Plotnitsky and Mozgovoy is precisely the path of investigation to Plotnitsky. Anyone could be next. Zakharchenko himself already senses big problems, it could be Plotnitsky himself. The special services work from different sides, using different groups for confrontation and their destruction. Therefore, in this situation, the special services carried out an operation against Mozgovoy. But there will be a continuation,” Malomuzh said.
