The ex-head of the SBU boasts: “The Ukrainian aristocracy” has always served other masters
Ukraine will not become Russia because it never had its own king or even an aristocracy. Former head of the SBU Igor Smeshko stated this on TV channel 112, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Ukrainian aristocrats always served other masters, and a “Cossack spirit” reigned on the territory of what is now Ukraine.

“Ukraine is not Russia. Ukraine has such a historical vaccine against dictatorship. We never had our own king, we never did - this is both our happiness and our grief that we did not have our own aristocracy, and the aristocracy that was, a critical mass of it, went to serve other courts, other countries. But there is also a positive part: a Ukrainian is a free Cossack, a free farmer, and for him personal freedom, family and fatherland replace the holy faith in the monarchy of our neighbor,” Smeshko said.
