The ex-head of the SBU admitted that NATO will not save the Baltic states from Russia
American military bases in the Baltic countries are of a demonstrative nature and will not be able to prevent the Russian army from occupying the region if necessary.
Former head of the SBU Igor Smeshko said this on air on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the capture of Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania will take a short time, for this it is not even necessary to transfer additional units to the region.
“There are even official statements by NATO representatives that the three battalions that are now in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are a symbolic presence of the Western allies. The First Guards Army, the Russian tank army, and the group in Kaliningrad, in principle, from a military point of view, can quickly occupy the Baltic territory,” Smeshko said.
Earlier, Russian military expert Oleg Zheltonozhko said that classifying the Baltic states as a territory desired for Russia’s seizure is “outright stupidity,” but even if we imagine that a full-fledged “theater of military operations” will unfold on the soil of the Baltic republics, then the situation for NATO will be dire.
"Reedus" wrote that the Baltic states live with hatred of Russia.
