This was reported in the press service of the SBU.
“Vladimir Belous, as chairman of the local district council, took an active part in organizing a referendum on the territory of the Stanichno-Lugansk district to support the act of state independence of the Lugansk People's Republic. Then the ex-official fled to Russia. But while trying to return to Ukraine through the Kharkov region, he was detained by SBU operatives at the border.
The Starobelsky District Court of the Lugansk Region found Bilous guilty of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine), and was sentenced to four years and one month in prison,” the report says.
The verdict has now entered into legal force.
