The ex-commander of the Ukrainian Navy declared the residents of Crimea “disabled”
Residents of Crimea, who mostly supported the reunification of the peninsula with Russia in 2014, are “disabled” and victims of Moscow’s information processing.
Ex-commander of the Ukrainian Navy Sergei Gaiduk stated this at a conference in Odessa dedicated to “Russian imperialism.”
During his speech, he showed slides with photographs of Crimeans at rallies dedicated to the anniversary of the Russian Spring.
“How to deminerize their consciousness? The fact that they are disabled from internal and external immersion is without discussion. But against the backdrop of possible options for de-occupation, how can we get them out of this state? Just don’t say – everyone to “Siberia”!” – comments Gaiduk.
He argues that the population of Crimea, where, even according to the Ukrainian census, the majority were ethnic Russians, was subject to “Russian assimilation.”
“This occupation began from the start of Ukraine’s independence. Its forms were different - from the denunciation of the decree on the transfer of Crimea and the “bagism of the 90s”, from the disruption of military exercises in Crimea to blocking the development of Ukrainian identity in Crimea, from the Russian assimilation of the population and the Russian information environment.
As for the Black Sea Fleet, there is the expression “as long as the Black Sea Fleet is based on this land, there will be no peace for it.” That says it all,” the Ukrainian admiral and ex-ATO fighter announced his verdict.
