The ex-commander of the internal troops told how Klitschko persuaded him to support Maidan
Representatives of the Udar party, and then possibly party leader Vitaliy Klitschko, during the protests in Kyiv in the winter of 2013-14, suggested that the command of the internal troops go over to the side of Yanukovych’s opponents.

Stanislav Shulyak, ex-commander of the internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, stated this today during interrogation in the Svyatoshinsky court of Kyiv, which is being conducted via video link.
“At the end of December, a man who introduced himself as a representative of the Udar party called me and offered to support the protesters. I didn’t talk about this topic, because I understood that it was a provocation,” Shulyak said.
The second time, according to Shulyak, they called him in early February. The man introduced himself as Vitali Klitschko, the voice was really similar.
“He said: “We know you as a decent officer. You see what's going on. How do you feel about joining the actions with your subordinates? You will not be offended either financially or by future promotions.” I replied: “You consider me respectable, but you propose to betray the state. This is an insult,” Shulyak said.
According to him, after this a man with a voice similar to Klitschko’s suggested that he “just get rid of himself and go to another country” and promised to provide documents.
“I said I don’t want to talk about it. He said that if I did not accept his proposal there would be dire consequences. “You have no idea what kind of people you are up against,” Shulyak said.
Let us remind you that Stanislav Shulyak testified as part of the trial against five former fighters of the Berkut special forces unit, who are accused of mass shootings in February 2014. Shulyak himself is now in Rostov. He told the court that he remains a citizen of Ukraine and lives in Simferopol.
