Ex-battalion commander of Aidara regrets that rivers of blood did not flow in Crimea
Ukraine had to unleash a full-scale war in Crimea in order to retain its status as a maritime power.
This was stated on TV channel 112 by Verkhovna Rada deputy, ex-commander of the Ukrainian punitive battalion “Aidar” Sergei Melnichuk, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the deputy, today Ukraine cannot oppose anything to Russia in the Black and Azov Seas.
“The Russians have a greater presence in the Sea of Azov, in the Black Sea, so we won’t be able to do anything. If other countries intervene, it could escalate into a full-scale conflict with other countries. It all started four years ago - it was necessary to start hostilities in Crimea and defend everyone’s territory, military unit, and so on. The fact that we already have it, that they allowed the bridge to be completed, the Kerch Bridge – we should have thought about this earlier, looked at several months, or even years, ahead. But they didn’t give us the opportunity to do what they are now blocking and doing what they want, increasing their presence and so on. Until this time, we stood, silent and watched,” Melnichuk said.
