About it reports the website of the Central Election Commission of Georgia. Based on the results of counting ballots from 45 out of 48 polling stations, Chernovetsky ranks third with a result of 11,8%.
The leader is the representative of the ruling Georgian Dream party Koba Nakaidze - 40,14% of the votes, the second is the candidate from Mikheil Saakashvili's United National Movement party Dzhansug Jincharadze - 24,8%.
According to the majoritarian system in Georgia, 73 out of 150 deputies of parliament are elected. If the first-place majoritarian candidate does not receive 50% plus one vote, the constituency will go to a runoff on October 22 with the second-place politician participating.
Chernovetsky, who was mayor of Kyiv from 2006 to 2012, has been living in Georgia with his family for several years. He created the political movement “For Happy Georgia,” which he dissolved in May. He ran in the elections as an independent candidate.
